Senegals WM-Held Papa Bouba Diop im Alter von nur 42 Jahren verstorben

Der 42 Jahre alte Papa Bouba Diop ist tot. Nach übereinstimmenden Berichten ist der ehemalige Nationalspieler des Senegal (62 Länderspiele) an den folgen der Erbkrankheit Morbus Charcot-Marie-Tooth gestorben.

Diop beendete 2013 seine aktive Fußballkarriere. Der Mittelfeldspieler war in der Schweiz, Frankreich, England und Griechenland aktiv. Bekannt wurde Diop vor allem durch sein Siegtor beim WM-Auftakt 2002 gegen Titelverteidiger Frankreich.
