European giants, Barcelona reportedly will put most of their squad up for sale, with the Sun claiming that they need to raise £106million in transfer fees in order to balance their books. This means that the club management will look to get rid of a number of players deemed surplus to requirements.

The likes of Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti have already been linked to a host of clubs regarding a potential transfer, with it being understood that only club talisman, Lionel Messi, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong

The La Liga champions over-extended themselves massively to sign De Jong from Ajax last summer along with paying £107m to capture Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, and the Frenchman's signing in particular has already added to their massive wage bill - with Griezmann currently earning
£300,000-a-week.

The financial strain caused by the coronavirus or COVID-19 crisis has also affected a massive club like Barcelona, and as a result they will be desperate to get rid of players who do not fit into their plans as they prepare for a return to football.

It will be interesting to see how this financial situation pans out considering that a number of clubs may not be willing to splurge large amounts of money in transfer fees, especially in the current economic climate.
